...US Army sniper, 18 years of service…He went out to meet the local village elders to show them they were there to protect the village from the outsiders. He met the elders as well as some of their kids. He shook hands and had a congenial visit. Two days later, he was given a mission. It was a night mission, he was given his target upon arrival to his assigned AOR. Target was in sight, was given a green light to take out the target. One shot down range, target terminated….A week later he went back to the village to see the elder again, this time the elder was alone, without his teenage son, no one is safe or trusted once they go outside…. He finished his deployment and reunites with his family, the thought of his mission had put him into a constant state of depression and anxiety. He started to share the incident with his wife at the time and she didn’t want to hear any of it, she told him to never bring it up again…….
